What is the cheapest way to make a WindowLED?

The components are super expensive. Does anyone have a cheaper hack?

People have asked me this from the beginning.

The most very barebones thing you can do is get a high power LED, a heatsink, thermal paste, and driver and a potentiometer for a dimmer, a couple resisters, and wire it all together. You can rest it on a place that’s high enough it won’t blind you. Everything will be dangling off whatever you rest it on. If you hit the wires though, it will all fall down, unless you find a way to secure it.

That will all cost, I don’t know… under $100? Hopefully we’ll find less expensive components too.

I suppose it would be great if we made a project just around this.
